CHENNAI — The Department of Fashion Design at Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science (HITS) hosted its flagship annual graduation fashion show, “Razzle Dazzle 12.0,” at the institute’s Padur campus on Friday, 24th July, 2026.
The five-hour event, held at the MGR Auditorium, brought together over 300 industry leaders, academicians, entrepreneurs, and fashion enthusiasts. Graduating final-year students presented their design collections across seven major runway sequences, alongside special showcase walks featuring celebrity guests and industry veterans.

Industry Stalwarts Praise Student Talent
Dr. Kaustav Sengupta, Head of VisioNxt at the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, attended as the Chief Guest.
“It is extremely refreshing to see new concepts and creative risks taken by the students,” Dr. Sengupta said, congratulating the young designers. “They have clearly put tremendous effort into creating unique silhouettes, unseen colour palettes, and fresh styles.”
Guest of Honor Shehnaz Sheriff, Chief Business Officer at Indian Terrain, stressed the necessity of a holistic industry perspective. She advised students to look beyond design alone and gain hands-on experience in market trends, material sourcing, merchandising, and customer sales dynamics.
Highlighting the institution’s vision, Dr. Ashok George Verghese, Pro-Chancellor of HITS, noted:
“Students entering our fashion department come with innate creativity and passion. We have tailored our curriculum to ensure they graduate fully industry-ready—equipped not only in design theory, but also in innovation and apparel entrepreneurship.”
Embracing AI and Sustainable Fashion
The department is also pushing the boundaries of technology and eco-friendly practices.
Dr. Anish Sharmila M, Head of the Department of Fashion Design, announced the integration of cutting-edge artificial intelligence tools into their design workflow.
Furthermore, the department is tackling fashion waste through its KCG Fashion Bank initiative, which upcycles pre-loved garments into newly styled apparel to be donated to underprivileged communities via partner NGOs.
